As a parent, you want to understand exactly how fast your child will be going and how the bike performs. Here's a parent-focused breakdown of the ESKUTE NOVA's speed and performance.

Speed Modes Explained

Eco Mode (~8 mph / 13 km/h)

About the speed of a fast jog. This is where every child should start. It's slow enough to be safe but fast enough to feel like an adventure. Perfect for beginners, young riders, and learning the controls.

Normal Mode (~14 mph / 22 km/h)

About the speed of a fast bicycle ride. Once your child is comfortable with Eco mode and has demonstrated safe riding habits, Normal mode is the sweet spot for most everyday riding.

Sport Mode (20 mph / 32 km/h)

Genuinely fast for a kids' vehicle. This mode is for experienced, older riders only. We recommend it for kids 12+ who have been riding for several months and always wear full protective gear.

How the 500W Motor Performs

The motor provides smooth, consistent power. Acceleration is gradual (not jerky), which is important for young riders. The torque is strong enough to handle moderate hills without bogging down.

Braking Performance

The disc brakes on both wheels provide confident, predictable stopping. In our tests, the bike stopped within a short distance from 15 mph on dry pavement. Wet conditions increase stopping distance slightly — as with any vehicle.

Hill Climbing

The 500W motor handles moderate hills (10-15° inclines) in Eco and Normal modes. Steeper hills may require Sport mode. Very steep grades will challenge any kids' electric bike.

Range vs Speed Trade-Off

Faster speeds = less range. Here's what to expect:

  • Eco mode: 15-18 miles, 1.5-2 hours of riding
  • Normal mode: 12-15 miles, 1-1.5 hours of riding
  • Sport mode: 8-11 miles, 30-45 minutes of riding

Is 20 mph Too Fast for Kids?

It depends on the child. For an experienced 12-year-old with proper gear on a safe course, 20 mph is manageable. For a 7-year-old beginner, it's too fast. That's exactly why the speed modes exist — you control the maximum speed.

Our Safety Recommendation

Start every child in Eco mode, regardless of age. Let them ride for at least a week before considering Normal mode. Sport mode should only be unlocked after months of responsible riding and with full safety gear.
