A little maintenance goes a long way. Follow this guide to keep the ESKUTE NOVA running smoothly for years.
Before Every Ride (2 minutes)
- Check tire pressure — firm but with slight give when pressed
- Squeeze both brake levers — they should engage before the lever reaches the handlebar
- Verify battery has enough charge for your planned ride
- Quick visual check for loose bolts or damage
Weekly Maintenance
Clean the Bike
Wipe down the frame with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying water directly at the motor, battery compartment, or display. A soft brush works well for the wheels and chain area.
Check Brake Pads
Look at the brake pads through the caliper. If they're worn thin (less than 1mm of pad material), they need replacing. Brake pads are inexpensive and easy to replace.
Lubricate the Chain
Apply a thin layer of bicycle chain lubricant. Wipe off excess. A dry, squeaky chain wears out faster and reduces efficiency.
Monthly Maintenance
Check All Bolts
Go over every bolt with the included Allen key set. Pay special attention to: handlebar bolts, seat clamp, wheel axle nuts, and pedal bolts.
Tire Inspection
Look for cuts, embedded objects, or excessive wear. Replace tires if the tread is significantly worn or if you see cord showing through the rubber.
Battery Care
- Don't leave the battery fully discharged for extended periods
- Store at 40-80% charge if not using for weeks
- Charge in a dry, room-temperature location
- Never charge overnight unattended
Seasonal Storage
If storing for winter (more than a month):
- Charge battery to 60-80%
- Store in a dry, temperature-controlled space
- Check battery charge every 2-3 months
- Cover the bike to protect from dust
Common Issues & Fixes
- Display not turning on: Check battery connection, try charging
- Reduced range: Check tire pressure, battery age, riding mode
- Squeaky brakes: Clean rotors with rubbing alcohol, check pad alignment
- Loose handlebars: Tighten stem bolts to recommended torque
