One of the most common questions we get is: "Is the ESKUTE NOVA right for my child's age and size?" Here's everything you need to know.
Official Age Range: 6-14 Years Old
ESKUTE recommends the NOVA for ages 6-14. However, age alone isn't the best indicator. Height, weight, and riding experience matter more.
Height Guide
- Under 4 feet (120cm): May struggle to reach the ground comfortably. Best in Eco mode only with close supervision.
- 4-4.5 feet (120-137cm): Good fit. Can comfortably reach handlebars and ground. Start in Eco mode.
- 4.5-5.5 feet (137-167cm): Ideal fit. Full control of the bike. Can use all speed modes with experience.
- Over 5.5 feet (167cm+): May feel cramped. Consider an adult-sized e-bike instead.
Weight Considerations
The ESKUTE NOVA has a maximum load capacity of 176 lbs (80 kg). The bike itself weighs about 55 lbs. For younger, lighter kids, the bike's weight can be a factor when they need to push or maneuver it while not riding.
Is Your Child Ready?
Look for these signs of readiness:
- Can confidently ride a regular bicycle
- Understands basic safety rules
- Can follow instructions consistently
- Has the coordination to operate throttle and brakes
- Is physically large enough to control the bike
The Speed Mode Solution
The ESKUTE NOVA's three speed modes make it adaptable. Even if your child is on the younger/smaller side, Eco mode at ~8 mph gives them a safe, manageable speed while they build skills.
Our Recommendation
For most kids, we recommend the ESKUTE NOVA starting at age 8. At that age, most children have the size, coordination, and maturity to handle an electric bike safely — especially in Eco mode.
